If you decided to take that role on as an Indie artist you need to stay on top of the essential tools that are available to you and often times for free that you can use to help you promote yourself.
Aside from these great tools I have highlighted for you I want to give you a few tips online marketing tips:
- Do not limit your networking to music-only blogs, groups, and networks. People that enjoy music and are potential fans are on all types of networks. So think about who your target audience is and where would they be online? What social networks would they belong to? Do not limit yourself. Know your audience and aggressively market to them online.
- Thank people who follow or fan you, and return the favor. If they comment on your music, listen to theirs and comment back. If someone has taken the time to follow you or comment on your music you need to make that person feel your appreciation.
- When you create online profiles ensure that you are being very detailed, make sure that you bio is a true reflection of your body of work and experience. Let the passion for your music shine through the words that you use. Make sure to include why someone should download your music or follow you.
- There is no such thing as overnight success. It is a slow, steady, daily process and the only way to move forward is to create activity, activity and more activity. Stay focused and do not get discouraged. Also connect with other artists for support in your quest to get your career moving. All Indie artists feel the same pains and frustrations, uplift each other and also share information.
The main thing that I want you to take from this article is that you online marketing efforts need to be aggressive. And in this case less is not more. You want to be on as many social networks as possible because you not only get the exposure for the people that are on those networks but you also get additional presence on the major search engines in the organic section. So if you are an Indie artist and you are trying to take the project of online marketing on yourself, check out these other options for you to market yourself online. This is updated weekly and they are all great options that you need to consider when marketing online.

Small Business Owners. Do you Have a Website? Do you Have Any Affiliate Links Or Banners On Your Site?
I am all about leveraging and maximizing situations. And because I am in the field of online marketing, there are so many ways and options to leverage social media, your website to make money from other sources than just from your own products and services. Affiliate marketing program is a great option that can increase your revenue. Yes it will increase your revenue and not require you to anything other than display the affiliate banners or links on your profiles and website. You do not have to do anything else except for that. Because if you have a website you should already have an online marketing strategy implemented and running to promote you business, service or product.
Well what is affiliate marketing? So many do not really understand what it is and how any business that has a website can take advantage of this and in most cases it not cost them anything upfront. Affiliate Marketing is basically described as follows: An automated marketing program where a Web advertiser or merchant recruits webmasters to place the merchant’s banner ads or buttons on their own Web site. Webmasters will receive a referral fee or commission from sales when the customer has clicked the affiliate link to get to the merchant’s Web site Web site to perform the desired action, usually make a purchase or fill out a contact form.
So if you currently have a website and are not maximizing the revenue you can generate from your website or blog using an Affiliate Marketing program, you need to register for a consultation. Affiliate Marketing programs come in all shapes and sizes and you need to have a strategy as with anything else to ensure that you are setting up the correct plan of action. http://www.whoistarawilliams.com/.
Do not leave any money on the table. Use an Affiliate Marketing Program to help you generate more cash flow. Check out my site http://whoistara.ning.com/ you will see various pop ups, banners and links that are a representation of the Affiliate Marketing programs that I am speaking of in this article. Many business use this as another way to generate money from their websites and blogs. But many small business owners sometimes do not get the memo on creative ways to maximize the use of all the tools that they have at their fingertips.
Follow my blogs if you are a small business owner because I try my best to put out information that is relevant and important to your success. My father was an entrepreneur and small business owner and I feel a lot of commitment and passion for that community. And I am also a member of the small business community and understand the value of having those hints and creative ways to help a small business accomplish their goals and introduce them to new innovative ideas.
Consult with an online marketing strategist because they are there to help you analyze your business, and understand your goals. There is no combo strategy like a “Happy Meal” that everyone can get to fit their business. You have to have a strategy that is a custom fit for exactly what you are looking for with the right expectations. And also the online marketing strategist should be including in that plan of action innovative ways to help you increase revenue. Register for a consultation at http://www.whoistarawilliams.com/

Tara Williams Atlanta Social Media Expert Asks Does Your Online Profile Reflect Your True Image?
If you are a business professional your online profiles are very important. Online profiles on social networks and professional networking sites have the potential to be seen by thousands of people. Your online profile can be found by other members of the network and even be found by searching on the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing. Does your online profile reflect you accurately? Does your online profile really showcase your skills and talents?
Some of the popular networks online that you can create a professional profile are Linked In, Naymz, Proskore, Storeboard, Pinterest, Google +,Ecademy, Chamber, KGB People, Visual CV, Zintro, Zurker, Connecture, Partnerup to just name a few. For more options go to http://xeeme.com/whoistara. This is updated on a weekly basis with new online marketing options that are free of charge to help you boost your online brand and increase activity to your profiles.
Don’t get offended by this statement….. But if you create an online profile and don’t take the time to upload a logo or a picture and just use the Avatar, just don’t create a profile at all. If you create an online profile and don’t take the time to fill it out completely and accurately to 100% completion, just don’t create the profile at all. It’s like completing half of your homework when you were in school and turning it in. It just doesn’t look good. I’m keeping it real or 100 with you….. LOL Or getting business cards printed that only have half the information listed on the card. Would that make any sense? Of course it does not make sense. At least with the homework only your teacher sees that it is half done, and with the business cards most likely it will be thrown in the trash. But your half done online profile is out the circulate through the web. Reflecting the wrong image for your personal brand.
No matter what your title is or what industry you are in you need to have a plan of action for your online personal branding. CEO’s, CFO’s, CIO’s of corporations in all industries need to have branding that focuses on their accomplishments and expertise. Personal online branding can lead to other business opportunities that you may not have even thought about. It can open up new connections that you may not have otherwise been able to get. Online branding is a powerful tool that can provide you with unlimited possibilities. Hairstylists, Real Estate Agents, Artists, Pastors, Photographers,Recruiters,Chef’s there is not one job title or industry that should not be taking advantage of the power of online personal branding.
Everyone says I want to get my name out there, I want to showcase my talents, skills and expertise. there is an online network that can fit your specific needs some are general and some are very specific. You have to review the site and it’s mission to determine if it is a site that you want to create a profile on. I have compiled a one stop URL for options of social networks and have listed brief descriptions of why you need the sites to help people sift through the hundreds of options. Check out http://xeeme.com/whoistara
If you want an online presence and are interested in having online profiles created and you are just to busy hire someone. Because it is worth the money that you spend to ensure that your image online is showcased properly. Or if you do have the time to create your online profiles, complete them and then move on to the next professional networking or social media network profile. Do not get overwhelmed!!!! Focus on one at a time. It makes more sense to have 3 complete profiles on the web than 10 half complete profiles. Anything 1/2 done is just not a good look!
Online profiles that are 100% complete, with a photo, with detailed content, optimized will create a lot of activity and thus showcasing your expertise. This activity breeds engagement, connections and then ventures, jobs resulting in you making money. Let’s face it all this time and effort that is required in creating online profiles and online branding is for you to increase your exposure to generate revenue. Your online profile will help you to make connections and generate interest for people to contact you. Making connections and building online networking relationships is very rewarding. Rewarding in that it creates new opportunities and allows you to have a lot of options.
Take a look at your online profile based on what you see would someone want to contact you for business connect with you or recruit you for a job? If the answer is no you should first consult with someone that specializes in social media optimization. Because this person will understand the principles relating to social media seo and be able to write the correct content and maximize the features of the network to help you target a specific audience and to help you have a profile that is a true reflection of your expertise and skill set. For a free consultation regarding your online profile register at http://www.whoistarawilliams.com/.
Just remember when you take the time to prepare to get ready to leave for work in the morning you are completely dressed, not 1/2 dressed. So make sure that your online profiles are completely dressed and not 1/2 dressed. 1/2 is just not acceptable…..

Tara Williams says Social Media Has Changed “The Music World” for Indie Artists For Better or Worse?
Are you a talented writer, artist or producer? Have you dedicated yourself to your craft and are ready to go to the next level? Are you making attempts to go to the industry events in your local area, open mic nights, tirelessly promoting your music in the streets of your local town? Does this sound like you? If this is you pay close attention. No matter what genre of music you are in Rap, Country, Pop, Rock, R & B or Gospel you have the exact same issue when you are an indie artist that is getting notice. You need to get noticed by the right people or no matter how great your music is the only thing it will be is great music. It will not be great music that translates into money for you and your family. Nor will it be great music that can develop a following in your local town, state, the USA or even internationally. And in some cases getting noticed will provide you with options that you decide to stay independent. But first you have to what? Get Noticed!! How do you get noticed?
“To reach the public, music needs to
be known; it needs to be available to
buy and it needs to be talked about.”
Dave Guetta
The internet is the key to you getting noticed if you are an indie artist. Because records sales are not the driving factor any longer you have to get noticed by those decision makers (A & R) who are looking online. (An A&R rep is a person who serves as the liaison between a record company and the artists under contract to it, which is also known as being signed to the label. The term A&R stands for artist and repertoire. The A&R rep is responsible for finding new talent, overseeing their first contact and recording with a record label, and assisting with the marketing and promotion of the artist once the recording has been produced).
Online Marketing and Social Media have changed the entire music industry. And really the changes are positive and really help indie artists that may never have gotten a chance to be noticed in prior years. Just think back in the 90’s you would have had to have a huge stroke of luck to get your CD in the right hands, or just happen to be at the right showcase or open mic night, or like famous R & B group 112 have P Diddy (Sean Combs) happen to hear you singing in front of a club like 112 in Atlanta and get signed. In the 90’s the work was actually a lot harder to get noticed and heard by the right people, yes the people who can take your career from just being a local talent to be a worldwide talent. Stand in line with thousands of people to hope, to make it on the televised show “American Idol”.
A huge factor in getting noticed and the advantages of the shift in how getting noticed has changed is that when you get noticed as an indie artist now it is because of your numbers. Yes established numbers that are concrete for those decision makers to see. Online activity allows people to see how many people have viewed your videos on You Tube and Vimeo, they can see the likes to your videos on You Tube and Vimeo, they can see how many followers you have on Twitter, they can see how many likes you have on Facebook, how many followers and likes you have on Sound Cloud they can check your score on Klout, Peerindex and Kred. How many ringtones have been downloaded, how many of your songs have been downloaded on I-tunes. Now why are these numbers important to you and to the prospective label that is looking for you? Well numbers from all of your online activities can tell the prospective label executive how powerful your following really is. They can tell what your fans like or dislike. They have immediate information that they can use to dissect and determine whether or not you fit into their system at the label. Those numbers and information make you much more attractive to someone who does not have that activity and proof of activity. Why are the numbers important to you? Because guess what if you are “Hot” and have the numbers to back it up you have more power to control your deal and your destiny. You might decide to stay independent or let the offers pile up and create a bidding situation that will be in your favor. Also numbers and activity will help you to generate your independent sales of your music. And what indie artist doesn’t want to make money from their music? So if you as an indie artist have the numbers and a system in place to provide proof of numbers, along with geographic information of those that follow you and understand and can show the sentiment of your followers just to name a few things, this is very important for those labels to take your talents and develop exactly what your followers will want to engage them to download your music on I-tunes or download a ringtone. Your numbers and the analytics of those numbers is a valuable asset and will save the label a lot of money. Numbers will get you noticed and the system of having the breakdown of those numbers as an indie artist is a ticket to your success.
It takes a strategy, hard work and dedication and commitment to get those numbers. Some artists are very tech savvy and will work their campaign themselves to get some numbers. But if you consult with an expert in the field and determine a strategy that needs to be implemented it will really help you save time and your money from the wasted trial and error and frustration of not getting results. And beyond getting a strategy if you hire an expert in the field of Online Marketing you will see some amazing results, get the numbers and have detailed reporting to go along with it. Don’t let the answer be that I don’t have the money to have someone professionally market me online. I made that statement why? Because are you pressing up CD’s? Are your pay fees to enter in all of these different showcases and open mic nights? Are you paying for street teams to pass out your CD’s? Are you wrapping vehicles with your name on them? Did that cost anything? Did you have a budget for that? My point is that you cannot rely on the same tactics that were used in the 90’s. Get a consultation with an Online Marketing strategist that understands your industry and go from there.
How do you get noticed? Answer: Marketing online and using a strategic plan to get you noticed and to get what NUMBERS!!!!!!!
